September

A couple of days ago while walking to school we found a little branch of a tree,
Anita decorated it for Christmas already (I know, I know, Summer is not over yet
and I dare to say that word!).
Of course it will be a pink Christmas for her...
: ) : (
I just added a little something to her little tree.

A lovely coffee break with Toc Toc Toc and petticoats biscuits.

^-^

Heavy rains today,  but I received one of Janis lavender bags.
No excuse to feel stressed out now!
Grazie Janis!

Now the recipe for the "take it easy" cake.
(please put eye glasses on ;^)

You can add whatever fruit or nuts as long as you keep the bananas.
Grab 225g of plain flour, 1 and half tsp baking powder, half tsp of cinnamon,
a pinch of salt, half tsp of bicarbonate of soda, 3 ripe bananas,
3tbsp soured cream or plain white yogurt will do at room temperature,
1tsp vanilla extract, 150g unsalted butter, 100g soft brown sugar, 50g caster sugar,
3 large eggs beaten, a handful of blackberries and almonds flakes,
a couple of tbsp of runny honey.
Preheat the oven to 160C/325F,prepare the tin as you usually do.
Beat the butter and both sugar until fluffy, gradually add the beaten eggs.
Sift the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, pinch of salt and bicarbonate all together
(in another bowl).
Add in batches to the sugar, butter and eggs mixture,
mix well until thoroughly combined.
Aside mix the sour cream , with vanilla extract and the bananas,
then fold into the other mixture, stir the blackberries.
Pour the mixture in the tin, cover with almonds flakes and blackberries add the honey.
Bake it in the middle shelf for 45-50 min. or until a skewer comes out clean.
Cool the cake in the tin for 30 min then carefully lift out set on a wire rack to cool completely.

Then sit down, make yourself a "cuppa" and breathe,
by now you should be stress free...Enjoy!

This is one of my favourite picture that resume my family very well.
I'm the 'stylish' baby with the fair isle jumper and nappy
(of course it makes sense.... a heavy top and no pants!)
My two brothers, my godmother and her daughter, my uncles, my dad and my mum.
The car behind is a Fiat 600.

Although the blackberries were smallish the smell was wonderful.
I managed to make a jar of jam.
*feel free to ask me how I made it, I will give you the recipe.

Goodbye Summer,
Autumn is behind the corner.
Sound of the wind.

"Stuffed" below updated with a new link.

Stuffed

^..^

Anita asked for one of this , instead I said, you can have something like these.
And so, inspired by Camilla's cutest stuffed creations I made "Hello Doggy".
She loves it...because mamma made it!

* Camilla's crochet creatures tutorial

Have a nice day.

Slowing down...

The chair under the dwarf magnolia was found in the garbage
It's my "knitting chair" now.
A corner in my living room with a beautiful print from Ana Ventura
The little nest was a lucky finding during a walk in the hills (or mountains?) in Genova.

sacred and profane

Few more photos from our holiday (no more promised!)

*A vintage shop
*An oratory squeezed between the buildings with the weirdest name ever:
oratory of the souls and of the belt !!! (scary).
*The "bigo" a (controversial) opera of genovese architect  Renzo Piano
in the old harbor also designed by him.
*Japanese Bodhisattva,  one of the many in this little gem of (mostly unknown) museum
*The refectory, where the monks eat, inside a monastery situated on top of a hill
in the historic centre, I wouldn't mind a couple of those chairs.
*Inside the Chiostro of Sant'Agostino, gathering wild flowers and grass.
*A medioeval tower
*Anita wanted to check if the putto was crying

And at last, revealed what catholic priests drink during mass:
a wine made specifically for the purpose called Sacred Mass!
