Yesterday I had to go to London to sort out some bureaucracy stuff for my passport.
Let me tell you that it is quite an experience every time I have to go to the Italian Consulate.
There's always some sort of argument involved...must be the italian natural predisposition
for argument..sigh!
All this because we are taking a week break to a sunny destination and it is not Italy!!!
Anyway, apart from that my day off was great because I met Fanja and we spent a couple
of hours shopping for fabric, chatting and savour a delicious orchid tea
and real french macaroons in a stylish japanese tea room in Soho.
It was really really nice. Fanja is as stylish as the dolls she makes!

The back entrance of Liberty from Carnaby Street has been decorated  in tana lawn

The sales assistant that cuts the fabric has never changed in ten years that I go there ...

Window display to commemorate him

and a bouquet of flowers sadly ready to go...

Stunning crockery on display

And  Alice in Wonderland in Selfridges's great window display ( I will show you more).

22.2.10

The weather is definetely crazy here,  after all  this is England!
( the video is not great but the song...)
yesterday so far we had snow in the morning, rain at midday,
and a glorious sun and blue sky in the afternoon!
So what did I do?
I made myself a delicious bruschetta with garlic a plenty and a pearl barley (orzo) soup.
Started a new blue scarf with a supersoft merino and camel wool.
Admired a japanese knitting book.
And dreamt about this beautiful american quilt  (actually this is not a book but a collection of giftwrap paper).

Have a good monday.

Spring is in the air, the first crocuses in our garden.
I've started doing  some "spring cleaning" from little things,  such as my embroidery threads box.

A  nice book of  "green cleaning".

I like Teresa Green's textiles, especially the purses.

Have a nice weekend ^.^

Hello and happy monday, whatever the weather...
This is the site were our little piece of allotment is, we share it with friends.
So far we planted some onions, leeks, and other vegetables that I forgot about.
I'm browsing catalogues of seeds these days...we need to plan what to cultivate.
We are all newbies so we rely on trial and error really and sometimes
on tips of allotment veterans, people who knows a great deal about vegetables...
Here a nice film, that gives you a glimpse into the allotment world.

7.2.10

That's it, the dress has become a long top or short dress...
when Anita saw the fabric she told me she would like to have a top like mine,
so I saved some fabric for her... and anyway I rarely wear dresses
without jeans!
^.^

6.2.10

Yesterday I went "fabric shopping" in Cambridge, sadly there isn't a shop that sell fabrics
but in a department store I found this lovely cotton silk fabric and I will make a dress with it
from this (really nice) stylish dress book
I alredy made a top last summer and although is written in Japanese (which I can't read)
I found that the patterns are straightforward and very clear and the top is now my favourite.

The only food I can eat these days are soups so I'm making a new soup everyday...today was
Saffron and Jerusalem artichoke soup (this recipe is almost the same but I use vegetable broth
instead and no almonds) so delicious I had two serving!!!

The paper was printed in Italy but the design is English,
it's so nice that I can only put it on display

in our (ex) fish bowl together with other paper I collect.

For those who live near Ely or in the Cambridgeshire area: come to the opening of the
new wool shop "Yarn on the Square" ( Monday 8 February from 6 to 8, light supper at 7,
22 Market Place, CB7 4NT ).

4.2.10

Yesterday I made these vegetarian jelly with red fruits, I used vintage glass moulds,
they tasted good and they looked so nice...
Anita had the whole "little one" for herself...
it's so "easy" to make kids happy at this age : )))
* You can find vegetarian jelly sachet in health shops.

3.2.10

the pink clouds are all travelling to their new homes, thank you all : )))

I'm so looking forward to Easter ( because I love chocolate, bunnies, springtime and it will be Anita's birthday,
usually if the weather is nice we celebrate with a picnic party at the park).
So, to get rid of a little winter melancholy I bought these cute japanese goodies from Hiki.
